Hi all,
My name's Mason, moved to Alexandria a little over a year ago, but only rejoined the hobby in September. I'm a big fan of nano freshwater fish, currently have a planted Fluval Flex 15 on my desk with: Celestial Pearl Danio
mixed school of Chili and Phoenix rasbora
Amano shrimp
and 2 Scarlet Badis, unfortunately both male, the younger one just started growing into his colors :(
I have a second tank, a 8.75 gallon tannin lower-light tank, that I'm letting mature at the moment to move the Scarlet Badis and rasbora into. The CPD are way too active for the poor little rasbora, who spend most all of their time hiding in the stem plants, and the new tank has a wider base than the cube-like Flex, so more horizontal swimming and territory area.
Really looking forward to chatting with some hobbyists in the area!
Flex Tank shot, working on a staghorn algae outbreak, density is decreasing after some tweaks to lighting schedule and co2
Dario Dario dominant male and subdominant male (below in hairgrass):
Sub male foraging like a derp:
CPD always on the move:
Tannin Tank maturing, its been filled for 1.5-2 weeks so far, seeded with cycled filter material from the flex and regularly dosed with ammonia to keep the cycle going, but really looking for algae and plant growth to start before trying to move anything.
Welcome Mason! The tanks look great. Good luck with the order from Josh's Frogs, I just took a look at the website and looks like they are already sold out... However, I snagged a possible female at NOVA Tropicals a couple weeks back. Hope to get my possible pair into a spawning setup here in the next few months.
Hi Mason, Welcome to the area. We always love to greet new members.
You have some great looking fish. Love the picture of the Scarlet Badis. Hopefully you'll be able to track down a female someday. They're hard to come by.
Nice tanks! What are you using to get those great tannins?
