I am happy to announce that, after a long absence, I am returning to Chico's Natural Pet Market. I will be working on rebuilding the fish department. We are trying something a little different and will be selling mostly locally raised fishes, etc. I am looking for hobbyist raised fish, plants, inverts... Let me know what you have. For those of you not familiar with the store, it is located in Falls Church, VA, 6349A Columbia Pike. I look forward to hearing from you - John Mangan

Also, I can probably rustle up some Assassin snails, perhaps a dozen, from an aquarium where I have been letting them breed for a long time. I will have to rake the sand substrate where they are located to see what I can find. Please let me know if you want some before I start digging. Finally, I may still have some Hornwort. Most of it went to the trash because it was overwhelming the tanks. I also had gobs of Subwassertang, which I can probably still harvest. Ditto for Ludwigia repens, which I recently cut back. I also have a very large sword plant which has outgrown the 20 gallon tank in which it is living. I'm not sure it will come out peacefully. See my email address above.
I have a breeding colony of L-144 Ancistrus. They are the blue-eyed variety, more pinkish tan than lemon yellow. They are in a heavily planted tank with a lot of Java Fern and a group of rasbora. I would like to thin out the Java Fern. So, if I am going to beat up the tank to get out some of the juveniles (probably less than 10), I'd prefer to also move out some of the ferns at the same time. In other words if I remove the plants to get out the fish, I don't want to put the plants back and I hate to throw them away. Email me at biw3 AT cornell.edu if you are interested in the fish and the ferns. I am keeping those rasboras that the ancistrus have not eaten. Yes, large adult ancistrus do hunt and eat smaller fish.
Hi John, I emailed you regarding some L144 and super reds
John LMK if you'd like chunks of Anubias Nana petite for cheap.
Sounds good. We are always breeding fish!
Hi John. Traveling from Cumberland, MD, we are not quite "local" but we are members of PVAS. All of the fish we sell are ones we have bred and raised as hobbyists for the Breeders Award Program at PVAS. We could bag up fish once in a while and make the trip out. Are you looking for fish donations, or are you able to buy? We do sell regularly to our Local Fish Stores here in LaVale, MD. We have a number of Rams that we have raised. Traditional GBR coloration, and Gold with blue highlights. We also have raised some Electric Blue Acaras that are still on the small side (1-2- inches). Also . . . thinking out loud . . . we have about a dozen brilliant rasboras, a line of firecracker guppies from Frank Cowherd, assorted summer pond guppies, Steel-blue Wag platys, and down the road some corydoras aeneus, koi angelfish, and koi plakat betta splendens. We e-mail at fish.folk.aquatics@gmail.com
Hi John, this is exciting to hear, I have about 40 kribensis fry that will need a good home before I have to travel to Germany mid December that you can have.
