Hi all,
Does anyone have submerged plants to sell or trade that are acclimated to hard, high pH water with a sand substrate (i.e. Shelldweller conditions)? I‘d love to add some to my shellie tank but so far very few have thrived there- even valisneria, java fern and anubias seems to have a hard time. I am hoping some acclimated plants will do better. Anyone interested please start a conversation with me to discuss. Thanks in advance
Has duckweed been tried?
Hornwort works well in cichlid tanks. It is a floating plant that never develops roots. You can stick some in the substrate to make it look like it is growing out of the gravel if you want.
This is the Holy Grail to some folks who want very cool Cichlids and plants as-well. Most folks seem to fail at the combo. You might try dwarf sag. Easy plant in other setups but may be pulled-up or eaten faster than they grow.
Another option is plant above and hanging-around the aquarium while still purifying the water. Pothos Holder Aquaponics Aquarium Wondering Dude and Many | Etsy
