Sooo. I recieved a small batch of hornwort from someone in Oregon.
Yesterday I noticed a metallic fish in my 75 gallon heavily planted Betta Sorority tank. Today for a few moments I was able to caputure it with my phone. (Sorry for the water spots and pixalation)

Any help identifying it would be greatly appreciated. It has a yellow "nose" it kind of reminds me of a shiner .
Ok! Sounds like you may well have a nice little Least Killifish. I'm guessing female.
Nearly identical less the vertical barring.
The fish does have a dark spot on the dorsal that is difficult to pick up on the video and is about 1.5" maybe a little under.
I recieved the hornwort over a month ago and it was dry wrapped in newspaper...even more confused
I thought I saw a shimmer in there a few weeks ago, but dismissed it as one of my copper females.
I'm surprised in a tank with 35 female Betta's it has done so well even with being heavily planted.
My first instinct was, like Frank, to think "least killi." They come in with feeder guppies at our local fishstore from the farms in FL. You can find them hanging out near the sponge filter.
On closer observation, I'm not sure if this is what you've got. Least Killis usually have a telltale dark mark on their dorsal fin as well as some defined vertical bars on the sides.
Check out the photo entries for Heterandria formosa on Fishbase to see if your little fish matches up: https://www.fishbase.se/photos/thumbnailssummary.php?Genus=Heterandria&Species=formosa
Probably a Least Killifish (Heterandria formosa) which is actually a livebearer.
