Sadly, I must break down my bichir tank. They’re low maintenance and have been a joy to keep for the last six or so years. It's a shame, but would love to see them go to a good home with plenty of swimming space.
All these fish have been living with me for at least 4 years and are well established and acclimated to unfiltered DC tap water with Seachem Prime conditioner. They are all healthy and hardy. All the fish eat Hikari massivore or sinking carnivore pellets, except for the tire track eel, which insists on fresh fish like tilapia or bloodworms. The sizes are approximations.
They are currently in a 100-gallon tank. Most would be fine in a 75-gallon tank with large water changes, but they will grow an eventually require at least 120 gallons. They get along well. Only the tire track eel has been observed nipping fins on occasion.
Adoption fees are much lower than sale prices and are there to make sure they go to a good home. I would accept $100 for the lot of them. Also a copy of Joshua Pickett’s new ‘Bichir Handbook,’ which I’ll throw in.
