Corys would work well. as would adult danios and tetras ( probably not neons) Adult nano fish could work if you feed the angels well prior to introducing the nanos. I would also add a couple ancistrus.
You can see pictures of my fish at aquaticlifefarm.com I will post on this forum what I can deliver to the PVAS BOWL SHOW about one week prior to the event.
@cowherdfg thank you. I look forward to seeing what else you’ll have available. I love corydoras and see you have panda cories, so I’d be excited to buy some of those as well.
all angelfish grow to about the same size. I do not know of any that stay small. Altum angels are larger than sclare angels.
All can work in a community tank but angels will eat small fish like neons and guppies and you will never see fry from any livebearers you have in the tank.
Angels do best in tanks that are planted. Sword plants and valisneria are great for angelfish tanks.
a 55-gallon tank should be ideal for as many as ten angels though 6 might be a better number. but do not expect the angels not to fight each other. They are doing that to select a mate. Enjoy the display as fighting is natural behavior for angels and never has resulted in death if there is room to retreat/hide, which there should be in a 55.
P.S. I was also thinking of honey gouramis, so 6 angels, 6 honey gouramis, and a small school of cories.
Thank you for the information. I like the koi angelfish and think the red would look great in my planted tank. Do you have photos of both types.
My tank is planted with valisneria, water sprite, dwarf chainsword, and the roots of pothos plants as well as some driftwood decorations..
If I wanted other fish in with them, what do you suggest? Clearly no nanofish. How about corydoras?
I'll be at the bowl show on the 9th so I'm excited that I may have new fishies to buy and bring home!

Since I'm new to Angelfish can you answer a few questions to help me decide?
1) which type is smallest?
2) Would either of them work in a community tank?
3) Do both of those types like planted tanks?
4) Are both okay in a 55-gallon?
Thank you,
Lisa
I have blue pearlscale angelfish and high-coverage red koi angelfish. Both are $10 each and can be delivered to the next PVAS event.
