I bought a new 55G long tank at the Petsmart over the weekend (those sales!!) and now I can’t figure out how to get it into my house (I used curbside pickup) and I’m afraid the table where I planned to put it isn’t strong enough.
Do any of you have a recommendation for where I can get a base strong enough to hold it and how I can get it into my house?
Thanks!
A 55-gallon tank is large enough that I would be hesitant to put it onto anything other than an actual aquarium stand (or rack). Getting a stand is definitely the right call -- I don't think most tables would support it, or at the very least, they are unlikely to support it well enough to avoid damaging it in the long run.
Crisis averted! My neighbors helped get the aquarium into the house and offered to come back and put it on the stand I ordered! 😀
It is possible somebody here has a stand that will fit a 55 gallon tank and will sell it to you for a reasonable price. If not, any local fish store is likely to have such a stand, or to be able to order it for you. Also, you should be able to order such a stand at Amazon, PetSmart, or Petco.
As far as moving the tank goes, maybe somebody in the club lives near you and is willing to help. I remember that you are in Virginia, which is a long ways for me, but perhaps someone else will volunteer.
