I recently got my first 55 gallon tank and am trying to figure out what to put it on before I fill it and start to cycle it. I certainly intend to integrate this into a fish room/fish wall, so I want something that can possibly handle more than just the 55, like a rack.
Obviously it’s simplest to buy a single stand but not only is that expensive, it’s not exactly what I’m looking for. I’m considering shelves from Home Depot with 1000 lb capacity per shelf or even DIY with 2x4s. I’ve used racks for 20 gallon longs before and they work great but 55s are much heavier. I’m wondering what others suggest or have done with multiple tanks/fish room. Any shelve brand/models to get or steps for a DIY stand.

Ted Judy has a video about how to build stands generally:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMjsDncORvk&t=1481s I used this design, I would add an extra 3 or 4 inches to the height of the lower 55 section. I have a 55 on the lower part and a 33 on the upper. It works well. I bought the wood at peak lumber prices so it was about $150
