Reach out to PVAS member Frank Cowherd for advice. He is a chemist, and I think he _might have_ used PP in some systems: aquaticlifefarm@gmail.com
I have PP and I am afraid to actually use it (also afraid to dispose of it). I used to work in an Angel hatchery and it's one of those substances that is just better not played with if you can avoid it.
So, in my google journeys, I came across "4 week syndrome," which appears to be tied to gill flukes. Anyone else dealt with this?
do the dark sides cause problems? I've heard that fry always prefer to move towards the darkest thing in the tank, which is why breeders use light blue backings / coloration
This group of fry did not survive. I suspect gill flukes, though treating for them made no difference. The parents are already prepping to spawn again.
Ultimately, I will be looking for a "forever home" for this pair because adding them to the main Discus tank will cause major upheaval in a group that is finally settled into a comfortable hierarchy. I'll probably give raising fry one more shot, though.
Congratulations! Did you raise these until they paired off? Or buy as an established pair?
That’s great. I wish I had a bigger tank for some of these fry.
Are the parents from Discus Hans?
